Emergencies
Do you offer emergency plumbing and heating repairs in Battersea?
Yes. For plumbing, heating or boiler emergencies in Battersea, Clapham, Wandsworth or Balham, WhatsApp or call us on 07507 719191. Our normal hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, and we offer emergency call-outs in the evenings and at weekends, subject to availability. Typical emergencies include burst pipes, serious leaks and no heating or hot water. If you smell gas, call 0800 111 999 first.
What should I do if I smell gas at home?
If you smell gas, call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 straight away; the line is free and open 24 hours. Turn off the gas at the meter if it is safe to do so, open doors and windows, and do not use light switches, naked flames or electrical plugs. Once the emergency service has made it safe, a Gas Safe registered engineer can find and repair the fault.
What should I do if I have a water leak?
Turn off your water at the internal stop tap straight away, which is usually under the kitchen sink or where the mains pipe enters the property. Switch off electrics near the leak, catch dripping water and open taps to drain the system. In flats, warn the neighbour below. Then WhatsApp or call us on 07507 719191; a photo or video of the leak helps.
Boilers and heating
How often should my boiler be serviced?
Your boiler should be serviced once a year by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Annual servicing keeps it running safely and efficiently, catches small faults before they become breakdowns, and is usually required to keep the manufacturer’s warranty valid. Many people book in late summer or early autumn, before the heating season starts. We service boilers across Battersea, Clapham, Wandsworth and Balham.
What is included in a boiler service?
A boiler service is a safety and performance check of your boiler and its flue. It typically includes a visual inspection, checking the flue and ventilation, testing gas pressure and flow, analysing combustion with a flue gas analyser, checking seals and safety devices, and cleaning parts where needed. We will explain anything that needs attention and talk you through the options before any further work.
Landlord Gas Safety Records (LGSR)
What is a Landlord Gas Safety Record (LGSR)?
A Landlord Gas Safety Record (LGSR), formerly known as CP12, is the record of an annual gas safety check that UK landlords are legally required to have. A Gas Safe registered engineer checks every gas appliance, fitting and flue the landlord provides. The record lists what was checked and any defects found. We carry out LGSR checks for landlords and letting agents across south-west London.
How often do landlords need a Landlord Gas Safety Record?
Landlords need a gas safety check every 12 months. Under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, you must give existing tenants a copy of the record within 28 days of the check, give new tenants a copy before they move in, and keep records for at least two years. To book an LGSR in Battersea or nearby, WhatsApp or call us on 07507 719191.
Gas Safe registration and installations
Are you Gas Safe registered, and how can I check?
Yes, we are Gas Safe registered, and our Gas Safe registration number is 955367. You can check any gas engineer on the Gas Safe Register website or by phoning the register, using their registration or licence number. Always ask to see a gas engineer’s Gas Safe ID card, and check the back of it lists the type of gas work they are doing.
Do you install new boilers?
Yes, we install replacement Vaillant, Worcester Bosch and Viessmann boilers in homes across Battersea, Clapham, Wandsworth and Balham. We will look at your home, your hot water use and your existing system before recommending a suitable boiler, and the installation is registered as required by building regulations. Larger jobs such as boiler installations are priced with a fixed quote, agreed before work starts.
Common heating problems
Why does my boiler keep losing pressure?
A boiler that keeps losing pressure usually has a leak somewhere in the heating system or a faulty pressure relief valve. Pressure can also drop after bleeding radiators. Most combi boilers should read roughly 1 to 1.5 bar when cold; check your manual. You can usually top it up with the filling loop, but if it keeps dropping, call a heating engineer to find the cause.
Why are my radiators cold at the top or the bottom?
A radiator that is cold at the top usually has trapped air and needs bleeding with a radiator key. A radiator that is cold at the bottom often has sludge or debris building up inside, which may need the system cleaning. If several radiators are cold or bleeding does not help, the problem may be the pump, valves or boiler. We can diagnose and fix heating faults.
Plumbing
Do you help with bathroom plumbing?
Yes, we handle bathroom plumbing, from fixing leaking taps, toilets and showers to fitting new sanitaryware and pipework. The work is plumbing only: we do not do full bathroom refits, tiling or design, but we can carry out the plumbing as part of a refit managed by someone else. WhatsApp photos to us on 07507 719191 to discuss your bathroom.
